Abstract
En la historia del pensamiento en general, y en la historia de la ciencia en particular, es común oír hablar de antiguos y modernos. Desde el momento en que se comenzó a establecer esta distinción la palabra “revolución” adquirió una significación tan importante que perduró, al menos, hasta mediados del siglo XX. La Revolución Industrial, la Revolución Científica y las revoluciones políticas son expresiones de la importancia atribuida a esa palabra. Desde el punto de vista de la historiografía, la palabra “revolución” está estrechamente relacionada con la idea de “ruptura” y es contrapuesta a la idea de continuidad.
